Most welcome, Author. We heartily congratulate you for being a published author. It’s really a great achievement. First thing, we would like to know about your basic info as a person, daily life, career so far and anything you would like to share about you with your readers.
Bhuban: Thank you team, I am a travel blogger by choice and a marketing professional by living. I consider myself a contemporary traveller who found interest in writing when I started exploring India and its inheritance. I like travelling deep into the history and culture of a place rather than just adding a place to my visited list. It was my traveller heart and spontaneous photography that lead me to be a travel blogger and Travel Author. I was born in Balasore district of Odisha and was raised in the city of Bhubaneswar and currently reside in Hyderabad. I currently blog through my website by the Hashtag BEaTRAVELLER
That’s really great; please tell us something about your journey of becoming an author. When you actually started writing and how was the circumstance? Did any person or situation influenced you to write your debut book or was it your childhood hobby of writing?
Bhuban: I always had a deep abiding passion for new places, cultures, religion and aspired to be a travel author someday. I wanted to start my writing journey from my roots and the best story I could narrate was the glorious history of my land that still existed in form of temples. My wife being an author herself was my key inspiration for writing.
Please tell the reader something about your book. What is your message to those readers who have still not read the book. Why they should pick it up for reading?
Bhuban: This book is my journey through the old quarters of the famous Shaivite city of Ekamra now known as Bhubaneswar. The city boasts of over thousands of Shiva temples and the historians term it as the City of Temples. This is a city that has been compared to the likes of Khajuraho at Madhya Pradesh and the famous Angkor Wat of Cambodia. The book covers these magnificent Shaivite temples from the Sixth Century till the Eleventh Century giving an insight on the Kalingan architectural styles and its various inspirations. I explore the stories, mythologies and the legends of this land that had inspired and influenced the religious beliefs then and now and has become a way of living among the natives. The influence of these fables is evident in the sculptures and motifs of these Ekamra temples. “Where is Ekamra” intends to glorify these temples and influence travellers to include Bhubaneswar as one of their must visits while travelling to Odisha or India. The photo illustrations along with some sketches in the book will definitely impress the travellers.
This book intends to explore and bring out the richness and inheritance of the Odiya culture that is often confused with the other traditions of eastern India.
And yes, the most important thing we would like to hear from you is what is your message to those new writers who have not yet started their journey of becoming an author? You have been their source of motivation, please convey your thoughts with them.
Bhuban: For me writing is all about putting words to my travel, a thing I am really passionate about. I would ask aspiring writers to follow your ardour without loosing focus. The best way to do so is by meditating and reading more and more books. On a lighter note watch few of the Bollywood movies like “Lakshya”, “Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani”, “Tamasha” or similar for inspiration.
