Manuja Book Reviewes

Book Title:

The title of the book ‘ Mann ek pancchi ‘ is very attractive and soulful.

Book Cover:

The cover image of the book is an abstract art where ink is smeared very artistically

About the book:

In her first poetry collection ‘Maan Ek Panchi’, author Manuja has showcased various colors of life. All poems are simple and contain very deep meaning in them. Her poems contain the messages of humanity, love, etc and are commendable. The poems ‘Saundhi Khushboo’ and ‘Tu Hai’ are definitely the finest works.

My review:

From almost utter dislike to indifference to marginal acceptance to actually enjoying, my feelings towards poetry have undergone a drastic change in the last couple of months. Though I read books on poetry mostly in Telugu and English, somehow Hindi poetry never fascinated me much. Thanks to the recent interest in modern age poetry, Hindi poetry, especially by new-age Indian Authors has finally caught my fancy. Now, talking about my experience after reading Manuja’s ‘Mann ek pancchi’, I have completely fallen in love with her writing. The book is a very small and easy yet fantastic read comprising of just 15 soulful poems. The poetry is simple, beautiful and penetrating. All the emotions that are captured in the poems are the ones that a person with extreme aesthetic sense experiences in their journey of life. The mentioned poems below are my personal favorites. Though written in simple language with very few words, the feeling that every line carries is absolutely delightful.

Poem#1: वेदना

This poem talks about the muse’s inability to pen the intended poems taking into account many unrequited feelings.

Poem#2: ज़मीर

This poem talks about one’s own conscious that once is drifted away due to various other thoughts being overlapped on values and virtues.

Poem3# मिटटी

This poem talks about the reality of life.

The other poems in the book take the reader on a journey blended with ecstatic, cheerful and painful experiences. This book will definitely take a reader down memory lane to sense emotions that were once considered or valued. Now those forgotten emotions will surely be rekindled such is author Manuja’s writing skills.

Considering the feelings and emotions felt by a person about experiences, incidents, phenomena, and consequences as the main subject of the poem is very new and interesting. The tone of the poetry is equivalent to a sine wave having a number of crests and troughs.

What I like:

1. Because of the colloquial language without any abstract meaning, the message intended in each poem is reachable effortlessly.

2. Though a quick read, few poems are truly thought-provoking and heartfelt.

3. The feeling of happiness and gloomy are both balanced in a very good manner

What I didn’t like:

The book is an interesting read with no points to be disliked but hopes there were more poems to read.
